Jacob Jayasena

Short bio;

Originally from Solo, Indonesia, Jacob made a name for himself in his home country, including a notable performance at the International Ubud Village Jazz Festival in 2019, before relocating to Sydney in 2020 to study at the esteemed Conservatorium High School. Under the guidance of esteemed jazz pianists such as Indra Lesmana, Judy Bailey, Kevin Hunt, and Steve Barry, Jacob has developed a sound that is bold, expressive, and unmistakably his own. He has shared the stage with legends of Australian jazz such as James Morrison, Dale Barlow, Andrew Dickeson, Craig Scott, David Theak, and Tim Firth, among others.

Jacob aims to find the intersection between seemingly disparate art forms. His musical identity reflects his eclectic upbringing, drawing on the rich history of American and Australian Jazz, Javanese Gamelan, Western-Classical repertoire, 17th Century Baroque Partimento, and more.
